A picnic with Erica Davies

As the Official Partner of National Picnic Week, we needed a multi-talented Uncommoner to help kick off our summer series of alfresco inspiration.
Stylist and Author Erica Davies' approach to combining interior design, fashion, food and friends sparked a stirring conversation about creating the perfect setting.
How did you you approach styling alfresco vs indoors?
I LOVE creating tables inside that are a riot of colour and that make guests feel comfortable and at home. The same goes for outdoor styling too. Stick to colour theme, then mix and match. I took inspiration from the labels on the Bubbly!!
You’ve written a style guide called Leopard is a Neutral – what does that really mean to you?
It means that leopard as a print can be worn with anything - it’s just about having the confidence to mix it all together. Understand your own style - rather than following others. I actually think a leopard print picnic blanket could be unbelievably chic!
What's your current picnic perfect outfit?
I am very much into checks at the moment, so an oversized check midi dress would be my go-to. You could also then say you’ve coordinated with the blanket.
Aside from the wine, you need nourishment. What's your desert island dish?
I love fresh and fruity salad! Something like an Ottolenghi pecorino, fig and honey salad. Or jersey royal potato doused in sea salt, butter and mint!
When you’re keeping things local, where’s your favourite spot and which of our locals couldn't you be without?
We live near the Suffolk beaches and I absolutely love Southwold. I'd head straight there with... Eleanor! It has to be Bubbly Rosé.
Finally, We’re asking all our picnic creators to complete the following phrase.
This summer is all about unbelievably good… VIBES. After two years of lockdown, this summer is all about creating special memories with friends and family.
