The Unveiling: Here's to the Still Life

How does one unveil their latest still wine masterpieces? With a still life class in a gallery? But, of course.

Our newest sippable works of art have been years in the making. We’ve been carefully studying and selecting the finest parcels of grapes in our vineyard to create delicately made English still wines. Adorned with beautiful new character illustrations, it was time for their unveiling.

To celebrate the arrival of our first-ever English still white and rosé - affectionately known as Penelope & Clarence thanks to many of you - we enlisted the help of the incredible artist Harlie Briggs. We invited 20 friends and wine lovers for lunch, wine tasting and a little art class.

In the (thankfully sunny) walled garden of the glorious Pitzhanger Gallery - feasting on Ottolenghi’s culinary creations, with the sound of bees, insects and our very own Head of Wine’s tasting notes filling the air - we got our Picasso on. Or Turner, if we want to keep the English theme.

Phil guided the gathering through a tasting of the new stills as Harlie dished out top tips on tackling the scene. The wines were so fresh and crisp they were almost too easy to sip. We painted. We laughed at what we painted. We sipped a little more.  Water jugs were replenished regularly.

Harlie made it look far easier than it actually was, but it turned out we had a fair bit of artistic talent at the table.

Penelope and Clarence are now available to buy on our webshop. We can't wait for you to try them.
